Before you can store your items in a self-storage facility, you need to make sure that they are properly packed and put into boxes. When packing and boxing, it is essential to use sturdy boxes that are designed to be used for storing items. You should also try and use similar sizes, shapes and types of boxes throughout, because this will save time when you come to organise the storage unit for maximum efficiency. It is a good idea to label the outside of each box with an identifier, such as its contents or a number, which will make it easier to find your items later on.
It's always best to wrap fragile items individually before they are placed into the boxes; this should include wrapping them in bubble wrap and cushioning material when necessary. Once all the items have been securely packed into the boxes, seal them with tape, ensuring that no loose parts or materials can get out and become damaged or lost. For added protection, place the boxed items inside polythene bags before you move them into storage. This will provide an additional layer of protection against dust and any dampness that may be present inside the storage unit.
